Welcome to Pick Guitar! If you want to learn how to play the guitar, or if you've been playing for some time, I aim to provide something here that's useful.

I am a professional guitar player and teacher and have been teaching the guitar for over 15 years. I believe that most people do not make the progress they are capable of, even when they are practising daily. To make good progress, you have to practice right. To practice right, you need to understand what you're doing, and have the right tools to help you; ie, a good method.

On this site you can find online lessons, and try some of the methods I have developed to help my students progress more quickly. Click on Guitar Workout and Step Learning to check out some of these tools.

I teach all levels and ages from beginners to advanced, 5 years and up. I teach most styles of guitar, although if you're into metal and shredding you might be better trying someone else first! My students are about 50/50 fingerpickers and plectrum style, acoustic/electric. Click on Guitar Music for some online lessons with audio and TAB.

I have Grade 5 Music Theory ABRSM and can teach theory to this level. I prefer to teach the essential aspects of theory (what you need to know to play) as an integrated part of my guitar teaching though.

I have a full recent CRB check and hold a City And Guilds 7303 teaching qualification.
