Tip Of The Week

It's not how long you practice for, its how long you don't practice for that matters most!

You might practice for three hours and feel you've done well. However, if you don't practice again for two days you'll lose a lot of the progress you made - it won't stay in your fingers. To make good progress you need to practice every day. That still means 24 hours between practice sessions though!

Reverend Gary Davies, Muddy Waters and many other great players all advise the same thing; practice a little in the morning, and again in the evening. Why? Because that way there's never more then 12 hours when you're not practising. Its like getting a ball rolling - hard work at first, but once its going you just have to keep it going.

Sounds like a lot? Not really. Let's say you're now practising for half an hour most evenings. Practice for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 in the evening instead. You'll make better progress with no more time spent! (Of course, you'll still do even better if you can practice for longer as well). Try it and see!
